New Railroad disc available soon.

The Dennis Handke Railroad Collection will soon be available for sale through KSLS. The disc includes track maps of the sections of the Chicago Rock Island Pacific Railroad running through Kansas as shown in the illustration. Also included on the disc are copies of deeds and transfers of title. This information can be accessed by Section/Township/Range, County, or Name of the person(s) or entity transferring title to the Railroad.

PLEASE NOTE:

The KSLS Board of Director’s July meeting will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008 in Topeka Kansas at the Kansas State Historical Society 6425 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka in conjunction with the establishment of the Dennis Handke Railroad Map Collection.

Board Meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. Room just off the CHF Gallery.

A wine & cheese reception honoring Dennis Handke and his presentation to the Kansas State Historical Society of the Chicago-Rock Island-Pacific railroad maps will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Gallery. All members are invited to attend. KSLS will also present to KSHS a companion disc containing the digital images of the railroad maps as well as the deeds connected with the purchase of land by the railroad.

These maps and documents are of great historical as well as surveying interest. Dennis has had them stored in his basement for more than 30 years.

NGS geodetic control data sheet - On February 9, 2007, the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) completed a readjustment of more than 70,000 GPS survey control stations in the National Spatial Reference System. Click here for more information!

Land Survey Reference Reports

Charges required by the Kansas State Historical Society effective February 1, 2007 are as follows:

Fee for filing each reference report: $4.00 for each corner to which reference is made

Fee for information requests: Reports for one, two or three sections: $10.00
Reports from each additional section: $ 5.00
Requests for copies of any combination of field notes, plats, and maps $15.00 for each section

Copying fee: $1.00 per page in addition to the fees specified above.
Fax fee: $1.00 for each page faxed in addition to the fees specified above.

Requests for any copy to be certified: $2.00 for each copy
