County Surveyor
Position Summary:
The County Surveyor is responsible for overseeing land surveying activities, including plat and survey reviews, boundary determinations, and public land survey system (PLSS) maintenance. Will assist with the management of the design and construction of county road and bridge projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders. Involves a combination of office and fieldwork, requiring technical proficiency in surveying, civil engineering, and infrastructure development. Will interact with landowners, developers, contractors, and government agencies to ensure accurate survey work and successful road and bridge projects. The role demands problem-solving, decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. Works under the general supervision of the County Engineer. May oversee and provide guidance to survey crews, engineering technicians, and other personnel involved in survey and infrastructure projects. Must be Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the State of Kansas or the ability to obtain licensure within six months. Have knowledge of Kansas survey laws. Experience or training in the use of survey equipment and instruments. Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License and be insurable under Saline County’s fleet insurance.
